How long does glue take to dry on a balsa bridge?
Super glue sets in seconds, wood glue needs minutes to hold and about a day to reach full strength. How long to wait before testing.

Short answer: thin CA (super glue) holds in seconds. Wood glue (PVA) usually holds in about 30 minutes to an hour if pinned, and is generally treated as fully cured after about 24 hours. Check the label of your glue, since products differ.
| Glue | Holds in | Fully cured |
|---|---|---|
| Thin or medium CA | seconds | minutes to hours |
| Aliphatic PVA (wood glue) | about 30 to 60 minutes, pinned | about 24 hours |
| Balsa cement | minutes | an hour or more |
Tips
- Wait before loading. Test the bridge only after the glue has cured. A joint that is holding is not necessarily a joint at full strength.
- Keep the weight honest. Wood glue loses water as it dries, so a bridge weighs a little less after a day. Weigh it as close to test day as you can, and use the contest scale if you can.
- Don't move it while it sets. Pin it in place.
- Thin layers dry faster. A thick bead dries slowly, and is heavy.
