Contest day checklist for balsa bridge builders
What to bring and check on contest day: the bridge, the rulebook, your tools, a ruler and a scale, plus the last measurements before check-in.

Short answer: bring the bridge, the rules, a way to measure and weigh it, and anything the rules let you repair it with. Check every limit one more time before check-in.
Bring
- The bridge in a rigid box. See transporting it.
- A printed copy of the rules and your limits sheet, and any written answers from the organizer.
- Registration papers and team names, if required.
- A ruler or tape and a scale, to check the limits.
- Spare sticks, glue and a knife, if repairs are allowed.
- Safety glasses.
- Your design notes and test records, if there is an interview. See explaining your design.
Check before check-in
- Length, width and height, against every limit.
- The clear space, with the real loading pieces if you have them.
- The mass, with a margin.
- The span, so the bridge rests properly on the supports.
- Loose joints or cracks from the trip.
During the event
Stay calm, follow the judge's instructions, and ask when something is unclear. Take a photo of the bridge before and after loading.
